After a long wait, Squid Game has returned, and this time it’s bringing us the long-awaited third season! The show has once again captivated its viewers, keeping them on the edge of their seats as they watch contestants fight and die for the grand prize.

The director of the show, Hwang Dong-hyuk, created the show based on his own experiences as a child. Hwang had significant financial struggles as a child, which led to the creation of the series. Describing his experiences in The Guardian, he stated, “I read Battle Royal and Liar Game and other survival game comics. I related to the people in them, who were desperate for money and success, and that was a low point in my life. If there was a survival game like these in reality, I wondered, would I join it to make money for my family? I realised that, as a filmmaker, I could put my own touch to these kinds of stories so I started on the script.”

The show centers around people who are in financial trouble and decide to enter a life threatening game for the chance to win money.

When is Squid Game Season 3 going to be released?

Season 3 of Squid Game is set to be released on June 27, 2025, on Netflix. Earlier, Director Hwang mentioned what it takes to create the show. Forbes reported the director said, “I wrote seasons 2 and 3 at the same time. We were in production for both at the same time, and we are currently in post-production for season three, so that is the case. When I was writing the script for both of the seasons, I felt that there was a big turning point, or an inflection point, and that was the end of episode seven, so I thought that it would do it justice to have a separate season after that. That is the reason I had the first seven episodes as season 2 and then the rest as season 3.”
