New James Bond
Denis Villeneuve is shifting from Dune to 007. He has been invited to direct the next installment of New James Bond films, which is also the first for Amazon MGM Studios.
Tanya Lapointe, who is also Villeneuve’s artistic partner and spouse, will also be an executive producer, along with Villeneuve. As previously stated, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will be producers.
Denis recalls, “The Bond films are a memory for me that I cherish with my dad, even back to the Connery days with Dr. No. I am a fanatical Bond supporter. The character is to me, sacred. The new james bond actor film will be Villeneuve’s fourth film in the last five years and fourth film with a primary cinematographer. Villeneuve is inarguably the most talented, Oscar-nominated Canadian filmmaker and has the best track record for films set in the future (although timeless is also appropriate for most of his films). He is also credited with the best job with I.P. or original work with “Dune”, Dune Part Two”, “Blade Runner 2049”, “Arrival”, “Sicario”, “Prisoners”, “Enemy”, and “new james bond actor” among others. His masterpieces range from the franchise’s finest to the best in the industry.
Heyman and Pascal, respectively, will produce the film through their own companies, and they have been in their roles since earlier this year. This is following the landmark agreement with former producers of the Bond films, which gave Amazon MGM control over the Bond franchise.
Amazon MGM
When Amazon bought MGM for $8.5 billion in 2021, it gained the rights to spy movie distribution, although they only owned 50% of the franchise, meaning they could not exercise creative control. Just this February, after many delays concerning the next film in the series post 2021’s “No Time to Die” that ended Daniel Craig’s tenure as 007, the three Wilson, Broccoli, and Amazon MGM parties formed a joint venture which allowed the three to remain co-owners of the intellectual property in question.
During CinemaCon in April, Amazon executives Courtenay murray hone and Sue Kroll indicated that Pascal and Heyman were busy on a “fresh, exhilarating new chapter” of the franchise.
Valentiy and Kroll said, “We are committed to honoring the legacy of this iconic character. They’re both in London getting started and couldn’t be here tonight, but we wanted to thank them.”
